Phil Holland

Good systems start
with the people who use them.

I lead production teams, build and support technical systems, and keep learning. My work connects live audio and video, IT, practical engineering, and people development.

Production leadership / 2022–present

A production team built to grow.

As Technical Director at Heritage Baptist Church, I oversee audio, video, lighting, and broadcast across worship environments. The work includes infrastructure, upgrades, repeatable workflows, volunteer training, and leadership development.

The people are the foundation: clear roles, practical training, and room for others to lead.

I also teach sound classes for my team and the wider community, from fundamentals to intermediate and applied skills.

Engineering for the live moment.

My E210 work brings together LED deployment, live video infrastructure, AV networking, signal routing, and crew coordination. At Boots in the Park Albuquerque, I served as Contract Technical Systems Engineer for Stage A.

Heritage / Portable event production

A church team.
A city celebration.

Technical Director & Production Manager

I served as Technical Director and Production Manager when Heritage Baptist Church was asked to provide music and entertainment for a Christmas tree lighting ceremony. We took our portable rig outdoors for a full band, choir, and small stage.

The setup brought together front-of-house sound, stage-left monitors and video, and the stage production.

As I recall, the organizers asked for the system to be heard about ten city blocks away. We met that request, and they were happy with the result.

Heritage / Podcast production

A conversation
worth capturing.

I produced a podcast for the pastors of Heritage Baptist Church. The setting is smaller than an auditorium, but the purpose stays familiar: support the people speaking and the people listening.

Microphones, a console, and a table full of people—another way that production serves a conversation.

Practical systems experience

Trace the problem.
Understand the context.
Make it usable.

Production systems are also computer systems. My work has included network integration, conferencing, computers, show software, and the operational details that keep people connected.

Sandia National Laboratories / 2018–2022

Technical work in a security-conscious environment.

I supported auditorium and conferencing systems, installations, maintenance, network integration, and mission-critical events.

I created a standard for separating classified and unclassified systems that was adopted lab-wide. That experience reinforced the value of clear boundaries, consistent standards, and usable technical guidance.

Sandia / Hybrid auditorium conferencing

An auditorium conversation.
A guest in Washington.

At Sandia, I helped deliver an auditorium presentation to then–U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm in her Washington, D.C. office through Microsoft Teams. It was a significant event for the people taking part.

We routed presenters’ microphones through the sound console into Teams, with audio in both directions and mix-minus at each end to keep incoming audio out of its own return feed.

Audience displays directly below the camera gave presenters a natural sightline toward the remote guest. The main auditorium screen showed PowerPoint during presentations and Secretary Granholm during the conversation.

The same practical principles—clear audio routing, camera-aligned sightlines, and coordinated content—carry across hybrid conferencing systems.

E210Productions / Founded 2020

People first.
Then the gear.

E210 brings together technical systems engineering for audio, video, and lighting with a focus on teaching skills and developing people. A system is more useful when the team understands it.

01 / Understand

Start with the team.

Consider the people, the environment, and the purpose before choosing technical tools.

02 / Build

Connect the whole system.

Bring signal paths, networks, control, and production workflows together.

03 / Teach

Leave people more capable.

Share the reasoning, teach practical skills, and make space for new leaders.

Community involvement

Sharing skills
beyond the day job.

I’ve worked with Rustburg High School and other local schools to support choirs, drama departments, and marching bands through training, audio production, and equipment design. My work includes designing and installing systems, fine-tuning existing equipment, and making on-site visits to troubleshoot problems, including systems I didn’t originally design or install.

Cybersecurity, IT & projects

Practical IT experience.
Documented cyber learning.

Production and laboratory systems gave me practical troubleshooting and networking experience. I’m building cybersecurity skills through hands-on labs and documenting that work openly.

My public learning notes explore the vulnerability lifecycle: finding issues, validating evidence, prioritizing risk, and communicating why it matters.

Lab work includes manual validation, scan interpretation, and foundational risk and control concepts. This is a learning portfolio, separate from my professional AV and IT experience.

Different rooms.
The same thread.

Ministry, retail leadership, church production, live events, and laboratory systems have all shaped how I work with people and solve problems.

Some roles run alongside one another, particularly E210 and contracted event work.
